Effects of Procedural Differences in the Nationwide Food Consumption Survey

Abstract:
A study was conducted to assess the effects of differences in procedures in the 1987–88 Nationwide Food Consumption Survey (NFCS) and the 1977–78 NFCS. A field experiment was designed, using a split sample, to test the effects of changes in interview, food coding, and weight conversion procedures and nutrient data bases. This paper summarizes the results of the experiment.
